Help needed with pdf sheet

Post by Ferretz » Mon Sep 26, 2016 10:55 pm

So, I've finally found a form fillable TOR character sheet I'm very happy with, but one thing annoys me. There are arrows on each skill, blocking some of the letters, and I don't know how to remove or at least hide them.

Anyone know how to hide or disable these arrows? They are for the drop down lists, making it possible to add Favoured-lines under the letters.

I've tried to get rid of them in both Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader.

Hi Ferretz,

can you share a link to the PDF itself, so we (I, and any more skilled than me in tinkering with PDFs) can try playing around with it?

Sure thing. Here is a blank version of the character sheet: https://www.dropbox.com/s/31pif6s97cs9r ... 9.pdf?dl=0

The best that I think of is to open in an application that will allow you to print/export as PDF (Adobe Reader itself won't apparently, but I used Preview on a Mac). This seems to 'flatten' all the form fields, so you no longer see the arrows. Of course, you can't edit anything on the new 'printed' PDF either, so you'd need to keep the other version as a master copy for editing after any changes.

I put an example of this 'printed' PDF at http://stuartrjohnson.co.uk/tor/fan-mat ... _sheet.pdf. One thing that I did have to change is the annotation from the original creator. This gets flattened to a solid yellow square in the 'printed' version, which looked a bit odd, so I moved it out of the way to the bottom of the second page. The revised version of this editable PDF character sheet is at http://stuartrjohnson.co.uk/tor/fan-mat ... table).pdf.

Hope this is of some use to you. Maybe others (Zedturtle?) with mightier PDF magic than me can do better...

I will definitely take a look at it, but it's going to be a little while.

Thanks! :)

The ideal situation for me would be to use the have the sheet on a tablet or pc (I use a Lenovo laptop also works as a tablet) as a play, and just fill in any information as I go along. But those damned arrows blocks to much of the otherwise very nice character sheet. :P
