Hello guys, this is my first topic here so please don't eat me alive and consider that English is not my first language

Today I was thinking through some ideas for the next session with my group and I realized how cool and so-tolkien-spirit would be involving some rules for characters actually falling in love with NPC. I mean, loving someone the way Aragorn loved Aruen or Eowyn loved Aragorn should definately have some impact at least on hero's Hope. On the other hand watching the loved one hurt, killed or succumbed to Shadow shall be really important and devastating moment in hero's live.

And what about earning someone's favour? Convincing a proud father that our hero is worth his beloved daughter's hand? Isn't it all just too cool not to make some rules about it?

Please tell me what do you thing and how you menaged that kind of things in your campaigns

The way I handled this when it came up in my campaign was by creating a Fellowship Undertaking, based in the Encounters mechanics. It allowed the player to undertake some romantic courting (Is it called like that in english?).

Thanks for posting this question. I too am interested in what others have come up with. I think it is an excellent question that links into local customs. Wedding ceremonies and marriage obligations are different all across the globe and it would be wonderful to bring some of these ideas into the game. Even if players are not directly involved in a wedding it would be nice to have them witness a wedding ceremony as guests to enrich the story being told. I'd be interested in the difference in ceremonial customs between elves, dwarves and men. On another note, I can imagine that these ceremonies of love and joy (or similar ceremonies that celebrate the birth of a child) would give the heroes a boost of hope too.

I'm looking forward to reading what others said in the linked discussion threads.
