After all, you only need one foot to stand on, right? Or are you thinking, 'spiked helmet'?Glorelendil wrote:Triple-wielding.

Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
for a long time (since the days of MERP and laterally Decipher system) I've thought of doing a campaign based around the discovery and searching the sunken ruins of Belegost and/or Nogrod. I never got round to it and since starting to read/play TOR, the old ideas are starting to bubble again. So if C7 happen to cough up a Western Eriador book, that would be ace. Thinking about it, a Moria sourcebook would also provide helpful info.
It's the Dwarves that go swimmin.... with little hairy women...... !!

Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Well, if you accept the locations given for Belegost and Nogrod in The Silmarillion then neither city is exactly 'sunken'. Belegost might be about 40 or 50 miles south of the source of the Little Lune, and Nogrod would only be another 3 leagues (about 21 miles) further south. Which isn't to say that many of the lower levels might still be flooded.Havinor wrote:for a long time (since the days of MERP and laterally Decipher system) I've thought of doing a campaign based around the discovery and searching the sunken ruins of Belegost and/or Nogrod.

Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Well that's even better news!
From the homework I've done, the general view seemed to suggest that both were destroyed. My theory was based around 'recently discovered entrances' or perhaps a Hobbit style ancient map leading to a Dwarven secret door.... then mazes of ancient half collapsed, half sunken halls... that kind of thing. I don't know if anyone else has had or developed a similar idea.

Actually, this is a great idea.
As far as anyone taking a shot at working something up for Belegost or Nogrod, see if you can find Issue 32 of Decipher's Lord of the Rings webzine (unofficial), Hall of Fire.

Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Actually I have toyed around with an adventure that deals with searching the ruins of Belegost for the great pearl Nimphelos which was given to the Lord of Belegost by the Elf-king Thingol as part of the payment for the delving of Menegroth. The vault where it was stored would be accessible from a lost mine through a subterranean dwarf-road. The mine, itself, served as a temporary shelter for King Arvedui and his followers fleeing the armies of the Witch-king after fall of Arthedain. A letter written by one of the king's men and passed on to Círdan the Shipwright through the Lossoth provides the clue to finding the mine.Havinor wrote:Well that's even better news!

I also want to introduce a breed of intelligent sea scorpions living in the semi-flooded chambers of the city. The creatures would communicate through a combination of clicks and strobing bio-luminescent panels on their carapaces. The Dwarves of the Blue Mountains or Men of Eriador might name the creatures brimthrowend or some variation. And I suppose that an elvish word for 'scorpion' might be derived from some compound such as 'whip-tail' or 'sting-tail' or even 'tail-spider'.
Brimthrowend Basic Communication
Color = Emotional State or Basic Desire
Violet = Joy
Blue = Peace/Contentment
Green = Curiosity or Hunger
Yellow = Caution/Suspicion
Orange = Pain/Distress
Red = Anger/Hostility
More complex ideas and feelings are indicated through strobing patterns and clicks.
The brimthrowend might resemble the creature depicted here, but about nine feet long:
