What's this? I haven't heard about this before, but there's been a couple references to it.Corvo wrote: More seriously, C7 had been conspicuously silent about their projects after Errantries of the King.

Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Originally The One Ring was envisaged as three core sets covering different regions and time periods, being:
- Over the Edge if the Wild - Wilderland just after the Hobbit
- Errantries of the King - Eriador when Aragorn was young
- War of the Ring - Gondor and the south leading up to and during Lord of the Rings
Each was meant to have to own supplements, presumably an adventure book, region book, and campaign book like we got of Wilderland.
The approach was dropped, I presume, due to issues of duplicated material and the effort involved in the campaign books.

Skywalker got it right.Azrael Macool wrote:What's this? I haven't heard about this before, but there's been a couple references to it.Corvo wrote: More seriously, C7 had been conspicuously silent about their projects after Errantries of the King.
I was meaning Oaths of the Riddermark, and I mixed them up.
Being an old hand here that name sticked to my memory
Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
FWIW, I'm glad they dropped this approach. I know FFG has taken some criticism for having three core books for their Star Wars game. Although they have some different material, they more or less republish the same rules set. So each time somebody plunks down $60 for the same book, even though it's full of gorgeous art and wonderful production values, they are mostly getting something they've already paid for.skywalker wrote:Originally The One Ring was envisaged as three core sets covering different regions and time periods, being:

Adventure Summaries for my long-running group (currently playing through The Darkening of Mirkwood/Mirkwood Campaign), and the Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Exactly how I was thinking Majestic. I much prefer the current model of the TOR line.
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.
Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
But you can have the core set rule and then have extensions by product line?
I wonder if the cultural starting value may be different by each period covered.

Nothing of Worth.

Though I am glad they dropped the three core set approach, I am disappointed that we lost the campaign books for Errantries of the King and War of the Ring.Majestic wrote:FWIW, I'm glad they dropped this approach. Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Just because we don't have it, doesn't mean it's lost.
Re: Speculation: After Erebor?
Because TOR and Middle earth for 5e is selling well, there is no reason the flow of (good or very good) product have to stop. The real problem is where Cubicle7 have the right to walk within the license. And for how long they have the license...
Nothing of Worth.

Not all who wander are lost. I still hold out hope that we will see this material in some form or other. C& hold their cards close to vest concerning what they have planned.skywalker wrote: I am disappointed that we lost the campaign books for Errantries of the King and War of the Ring.
