Journey's & Maps maps v2??

Post by ThrorII » Mon Nov 07, 2016 11:19 pm

Someone else noticed as well that the print version of the maps has differences from the pdf version from earlier in the year.

Specifically, the southern Blue Mountains now has a 'Mines of the Dwarves' listed on it. I haven't had time to review the rest of the maps for other possible changes.

Will C7 be releasing an updated pdf of the maps? I just checked DTRPG, and there have been no updates to it as of yet.

That's okay. I was also given the impression that the region named East Lune is actually supposed to be West Lune (being, y'know, west of the Lune River). If that was an error then it did not get corrected on the physical product.

Actually, with additional time to think on it, I think the region between the Blue Mountains and the River Lune should have just been called the Plains of Lune. The plains might then be subdivided by the lower river into North Lune and South Lune.

Hi ThrorII and Otaku-sempai
I only have the pdf version of Journeys and Maps - am I to understand that in the printed version, as well as the "Halls of the Dwarves" marked in the northern part of the Blue Mountains (shown in the pdf version), there is a separate "Mines of the Dwarves" in the southern part of the Blue Mountains (south of the Gulf of Lune and not shown in the pdf version)?

That is correct, Gilrohir. We can also assume other settlements and mines in both the northern and southern Blue Mountains that don't show up on the map (especially in the south). And it is not clear whether the Halls of the Dwarves shown at the head of the Little Lune was the site of Thorin's Halls or if they might have been located nearer to the Grey Havens. And a part of the Blue Mountains is obscured by the map label, an area that is most significant for including the source of the River Lune, but it also includes much of the hunting territory of my Cold-drake and the probable location of her lair along with potential Noldorian ruins.

My own Dwarf-city of Hargrod is located at the junction of the Southern Blue Mountains and the eastward extension that I dubbed the Emyn Romen (Hills of the Sunrise). The easternmost peak in the ridge is a domed height that I named Mount Baldy, known as Amon Rûdh in the days of the kingdom of Arnor. I decided that the ruins of a watchtower lie at the top of Baldy, abandoned since the time of the Great Plague (TA 1636-37).
