Acquiring additional Traits through experience

Some of the books allow for the acquisition of additional Traits as rewards for completing campaigns or certain Undertakings, as I recall. What about buying additional Traits with XP? What would be a fair rate?

The houserule I have for this is a charge of 4 XP per distinctive feature trait and 8 XP for a speciality trait plus an in-game/narrative reason to adopt whatever they were looking at getting.

It hasn't broken my game and the players like it as it means they don't need to swap a trait for another which is something they weren't fond off. The only word of caution I'd have is to avoid players adding too many, thereby getting swamped with them - yet to happen in my campaign though.

Maybe have increasing costs each time you add one?

I hadn't considered that but yes, if trait bloat was a real concern, I think that would be a great way of mitigating it.
