I hate the threadjack but....
I found it very difficult to work out how to use the functionality behind the saving a character to a campaign option. I could never get the system to display anything other than the login screen for that.

I made a step-by-step onscreen tutorial for it... Isn't it displaying for you? Or it just doesn't work?Hermes Serpent wrote:I hate the threadjack but....

It's actually quite straightforward.
- If you have made a character group, or "campaign", before, skip this step.
Otherwise click on the Create Group button and provide a Description name, an groupname and a password for the group. For example I provide now "Misse, David and Daniel Campaign", mddc, and mddc123, respectively. Now you have a new empty character group, just note down the groupname mddc and the password mddc123. - Enter the groupname and password on the Group and Password text fields in that same window. That is, mddc and mddc123.
- Now you can close the character server window and create a test character. Make sure you fill up the Name field.
- Go back to the character server window, make sure the groupname and password are still there in the Group and Password fields, then click on Save Character. That will save the character that is currently showing on the character sheet into your character group.
- To load a previously saved character, open the character server window, enter the groupname and password values on the Group and Password text fields and click on the Your Group's Characters button. The character that you previously saved will be listed, then you can use the Load button to load it, or the Delete button to get rid of it.
[*] You can peek on the characters that other players around the world have created and saved already in the server. For that you don't need to provide any group name or password. Just click on the All Characters button and they will be listed.
There is other things you can do with the character server. If several players have the page open in their respective browsers and all enter the same groupname and password values in their respective fields, they can use the Chat With Your Group button to open a chat window that you can use for chatting to each other and share dice rolls.

Wasn't displaying if I remember correctly. Possibly due to an adblocker I have running. I'll give it another go.
Thanks for your fast response, I'll post back if I have any further problems.

Thank you for the clarifications about how to use encumbrance. I was under the impression it had weight, just like a sword, because to me, it's pounds of gear and in the military I was often tired from packing around heavy gear.
I also had problems with using the character save and retrieve functions, I gave up months ago, and just used the save to text, saved to notepad, and reload tool. My players pass the text of their character updated to me from skype pre-game, after the pre-game fellowship phase from last game, then i'd print them from Firefox.
Just so easy to use though. I have recruited players by saying "play with this on the azrapse site, and read the mouseover tips." They'd generate a character and sign up right there. I've gotten over a dozen players that way.

I know I'm late to the party on this, but thank you so much for making this wonderful tool. I think it's extremely useful.
There are a couple things stopping me from printing it out and using it as my go-to sheet though.
One thing I really like about the One Ring is that economy is streamlined. There is a Standard of Living, and that's enough for me--I like that this is a very narrative system without a lot of mico-managing. So I don't think I would use the space for gold, silver, and copper. Is this an optional rule from the game? It doesn't look familiar.
It also seems to me that you don't need so much Inventory space. I would just want a line or two in case I want to list something special, but mostly I think you're assumed to have basic adventuring gear and food and things, and some personal items. I feel the amount of Inventory space comes at the expense of space to write in your Background. There's only one line for the Background, and I'd like more--about the amount that is given to Inventory.
Is there a chance that you could make an alternate version for those who might agree with me? I'm not sure if I'm an exception to the rule, or if there are a lot of people who prefer not to have gold, silver and copper and more space for the Background description.
Again, I do think it's fantastic though, and I use it to check out character options and plan for the future. It's very, very impressive.

Hi. I plan on making the layout more configurable.
Maybe it doesn't help if your main goal is to print the sheet, but have you checked that you can make the background textbox larger by dragging the lower-right corner of it?
The Gold, Silver and Copper cells, as well as the inventory, were introduced in later supplements to the game.

Hi Azrapse.
I just wanted to tell you that I fixed the printing issue I reported the other day. Apparently the issue was because of my printer configuration (someone changed the default zoom setting or something like that, I just resetted the whole thing), not because of the the site.

Thanks for the info.!
I'm encouraged to hear about plans to make it more customizable.
I didn't know about the Gold, Silver, Copper and Inventory additions. Which supplement is this in?

Both are from the Lake-Town booklet from the LM screen.DylanRPG wrote:Thanks for the info.!

Could you outline the steps you took to correct this?Woodclaw wrote:Hi Azrapse.

I too am trying to print, but it prints over 4 pages, 2 of which are mostly blank.
Thanks!

PS - I'd like to chime in too and compliment the developer of this program. Simply amazing work.
