True, but Rivendell is Rivendell. The Shire is a far more iconic location than Bree (then again, we don't even know yet if the book is going to look at The Shire in any detail).

Borri wrote:Together with the Barrow Downs (and some history of Cardolan), the Old Forest (and Tom Bombadil!), the Greenway and the Great East Road (with the Forsaken Inn?), Archet, Combe, Staddle, the Chetwood and the Midgewater Marshes, Buckland, the Weather Hills and of course The Prancing Pony it might fill a hardcover book even without the Shire (although I think the book will cover both regions similar to Erebor).
Otaku-sempai wrote:However, we could use entries on the Old Forest and the Hills of Evendim, including notes on the ruins of Annúminas and Lake Evendim. And on the other side of The Shire we have the Tower Hills, East (should be West?) Lune, The Grey Havens and the Blue Mountains (I want something concrete on the Halls of the Dwarves and the Mines of the Dwarves dammit!)--to say nothing of Forlindon and Harlindon.
I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'd love to have some source material in the regions mentioned above.

This can't come too soon for me... The whole area North of the Shire is a much more interesting area for me, so Bree is a natural place for a base.

And besides, who doesn't want to start their adventures in The Prancing Pony?

I do hope it's going to contain the Shire, because the Shire by itself is just not that interesting, and neither is Western Eriador sans the surroundings of Bree.

If this is to be a hardcover sourcebook equivalent to the Rivendell book then I believe that detailed coverage of the following regions are essential as the absolute minimum:

- Bree-land
- The Shire
- Old Forest
- Hills of Evendim
- Lake Evendim
- The adjacent Lone-lands
- Minhiriath
- Tower Hills
- East (should be West?) Lune
- Blue Mountains

Such coverage would make it a comprehensive guide to Western Eriador. In addition, unless we are going to get a separate soft-cover sourcebook on the Grey Havens similar to the one we have for Lake-town, the following regions should also be included:

- Grey Havens (and Gulf of Lune)
- Forlindon
- Harlindon

The region of Enedwaith never fell within the borders of Arnor, but was once part of Gondor. It could be included in the Bree book or it could be saved for the hypothetical Gondor sourcebook.

I have to agree. If Bree doesn't cover Western Eriador more broadly, or misses out prominent places like the Shire or Grey Havens, it will feel inconsistent with the breadth of previous supplements. I understand this line is taking time with its releases, but cutting up Middle-Earth into tiny chunks isn't going to help matters, especially when there are still so many areas to cover.

Yep, me too. I've been waiting so long for anything substantive on Bree that at this point I'd be happy with something like Lake-town. :)

My home-brewed guide to The Shire and Bree-land might have something that you and Brandiwise can use. You can find it in the House Rules forum. I've also constructed a gazetteer (also in the House Rules forum) that covers the rest of Western Eriador and Lindon.

You did a great job on those and although you shared your link for some of the other fans, I just thought you'd want to know that I downloaded your files originally and have referred to 'em ever since. :)
