Sometimes I wonder if the encumbrance of treasure should vary based on how much the pc wants it.
A PC who just turns all his treasure over to the lord of his race (Thranduil, Elrond, Bard, whatever) is going to be a lot less concerned about losing it than the guy who wants to use it to improve his own life.
