Corruption Test vs Blighted Place

Post by PencilBoy99 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 8:36 pm

What's the TN for a corruption test in a blighted place? Is it always TN 14, or is it based on the location (e.g., in Shadow Lands TN 20).

I believe it varies by zone. A blighted zone near Dol Goldur is much more likely to get you.

I think what the reference to Page 157 in the Shadow rules section is so that you can use the table on Page 158 of the core rules to vary the TN,if you like. The table on pg 223 helps determine whether or not you stumble into Blighted Lands, though the story may require the heroes to venture into Blighted Lands, in which case you might use the table on Page 158 but would not use the table on Page 223. Hopefully that makes sense!

We had a new guy joining a veteran group as they ventured into the mountains of Mirkwood. He gained 17 points of Shadow. I used the tables for random blighted places, but the combination of high TN and frequent rolls were tough... the veterans made the journey gaining only 1-5 points, so don't be allarmed by the difficulty. Veterans can handle these tests.
We have a hobbit with Wisdom 5, he only failed one out of 20+ tests at TN16-20. (It took some time before they found the lair of the Werewolf and they had to get back again!)
One game to rule them all: TOR
