King's Men in character creation

Hello to all,

I got a problem with one of my players for a campaign we are about to start. He want to play a Barding character with the King's Men virtue.
In the description of the virtue is specified that it discount 1 XP on the new ranks of Sword and Bow weapons. So far so good. I think that this bonus is meant only for the ranks bought after character creation, but he says that it should always apply.

While that single point isn't going to be huge deal, I would like to know which intepretation is the right one.

It's applied *after* character creation. Take a look at page 31 of the Adventurer's Book - the top right corner of that page lists a summary of character creation. Choosing Virtues/Rewards comes *after* you have spent previous experience points so picking King's Men does not affect any XP spend on weapons during character creation.

I thought so, thanks for the head-up on page 31.
