Release schedule update

Post by Hermes Serpent » Fri Jan 03, 2014 6:56 pm

According to a tweet sent by C7 at about 5pm today an update to the release schedule is coming this month.

So 28 days left until the 31st hope it's sooner rather than later.

I just looked at the Twitter account, that one came about after someone enquired why Darkening and Rivendell have not been released yet.

Noticed also someone involved with Darkening (I am guessing) got a pdf version of it (I am guessing) over Christmas. A few tweets before the one you saw.

Well, they've updated their release schedule on the ToR site but only added Hobbit Tales.

These are the same items they've scheduled for a long time & I'm very disappointed at the lack of future releases :(

Despite their legal issues, I hope the "stay tuned" message means they'll add something else this year.

All that was done was the 2013 was switched out for 2014 and The Hobit Tales added in at the top of the line. Speaking as someone who has no interest in these types of card games, I am somewhat disappointed. I would have much preferred to see the time spent getting Darkening and the Rivendell books out first.

We are in agreement, here. I have been gone from the messageboard for a while as our gaming in TOR has been slow at best. My friends all play a lot of Pathfinder RPG and I personally receive 3-5 books every month via subscriptions - so we always have something new to try out - so 90% of my gaming has been Pathfinder - not necessarily due to my preference (I would prefer 50/50) but many can't justify not routinely playing the new content that is being released every month.

I was hoping with my 4 month hiatus I would return and find that Darkening has been scheduled to release and we can order it now.....much to my chagrin.

Oh well. Like many have said previously - at least the content of the material that is released for TOR is excellent and worth waiting for. Just wish there was more.

Welcome back Robert!

You both summarize my feelings precisely. I love this game & hope they release at least something more this year. I'm still reeling from the apparent news that after waiting all of this time, well, you know

Thank you Mim.

And while my gaming friends have been scheduling lots of lots of Pathfinder to do the new modules/adventure paths, I have the choice of playing with them, or not. I have been playing about 1 / month or every six weeks a game of TOR to continue my campaign but it's hard to justify them all not playing and using the stuff we've all been buying (going to go play tonight in fact). Most of them can only play once/week as we are all family men w/ wives/jobs/kids/mortgage/extended family/home responsibilities.

I have though been satisfying my LOTR fix by playing a lot of LOTRO lately when not RPGing with them. Love the Rohan region and war-steeds I have now.

Also another problem for me is that I feel like I have to wait for the Darkening to come out to use the Heart properly and fully.
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

We will indeed have an update to the 2014 release schedule soon. We have just a few details to confirm before we can say any more. Thanks as ever for your patience.

Considering Francesco said explicitly in an interview that tabletop games are better bang for the buck than RPGs, well, I guess that Cubicle 7 would say that Hobbit tales gets preference here.
