Dale is a feudal kingdom while Lake-town is a merchant "republic". This is for me the most important difference and I would try to incorporate these aspects into the game comparing how these two different kind of neighbouring holdings functioned in history. Kind of like differences of a feudal town, a free city or an imperial city etc.
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.
