Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
I added her as one of the Elves the Fellowship encounter in "Those Who Tarry No Longer". I introduced her by having her sing, "The Fall of Gil Galad" (well technically I just played it from youtube) at the supper. Definitely not a "ruthless, deadly killer" moment.

I'm sure she'll be a Deadly, Ruthless Killer until it's time for the Unlikely Romance to play out...

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
Considering she is a 600 year old Mirkwood elf, and is a "ruthless slayer", why give her a bow level of just 2. This level is what many beginning heroes start with. This makes no sense IMHO. Thanks for the ideas, though - I just really question the logic in this aspect.

I will be cheering loudly in the theatre when this occurs and hitting the 'Like' button on every youtube Tauriel death scene video.Otaku-sempai wrote: So, is anyone else thinking that Tauriel might not survive Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy? I am half-expecting her to die at the Battle of the Five Armies.

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
The more recent promotional material suggests that she is only a 300 year-old Elf. I have already incorporated this into her character sheet. The higher skill-level in bow is supposed to reflect her position among King Thranduil's guards. The rules allow it, although I did strugglle a bit about whether to actually give the addional skill levell to her.windsurfjunkie wrote:Considering she is a 600 year old Mirkwood elf, and is a "ruthless slayer", why give her a bow level of just 2. Am I the only one thinking 'Tauriel' sounds like a really bad World of Warcraft character name?

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
At least Tauriel ("daughter of the forest") seems to be proper Sindarin. Itaril, the previous name for the original verision of the character, was a poorly-executed variation of Itarilde/Itarille, the original form of the name of Idril.Marcus wrote:Am I the only one thinking 'Tauriel' sounds like a really bad World of Warcraft character name?

Big shout out to Otaku-Sempai who ran "Words of the Wise" at the Queen City Conquest. It was a wonderful game, and his wife's portrayal of Tauriel will be the benchmark by which I judge Evangeline Lilly's performance.

Thank you, Garrett. I know the game could have gone smoother as I have little experience as a GM/Loremaster. Your input was invaluable and helped make make my game a memorable experience. I also have to beam thanks to Dominic and Francesco for having created such a great introductory adventure.barefoottourguide wrote:Big shout out to Otaku-Sempai who ran "Words of the Wise" at the Queen City Conquest. You did great. Smoothness comes from cutting your teeth running it. QCC was a great location. Also, note the Buffalo Gaming Society meetup group at UB on Saturdays for more chances to run.
