Tauriel as a beginning TOR character

Well, she isn't really a beginning level character is she?;) So, it makes sense.

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
At character creation, it only costs 6 points to raise a weapon skill from 2 to 3. However, thinking back to Tauriel's fighting style, i went back and put the 3 on bow instead of sword.Elmoth wrote:That last Tauriel looks fine. However, she looks to be slightly above a starting character, since she invested the 10 free XP she has raising Sword to 3, so Battle should be 2 and healing 1
Apart form that, she sounds right as a starting character with a good motivation I would have given the character Woodie magic instead of deadly shot as her advantage, but hey.

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
I was referring that she is not a starting character, since she has MORE XP than a starting character. I can understand her NOT being one, but it was claimed that the presented character was a starting character (so, usable as a player character straight) and this is not the case. I would have increased her abilities valor and wisdom quite some more if this was the idea One does not become leader of the woodie guard for being "starting adventurer plus something"

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
Here, she is written as a beginning Adventurer. It is only in the "Heavy Hitters" thread that I advanced her to reflect the film-version of the character better. You're right. I accidentally spent one more point on her than I should have. Consequently, I've changed Battle back to 2 and advanced Hunting to 2.Elmoth wrote:I was referring that she is not a starting character, since she has MORE XP than a starting character. 10 points to start
-6 to raise Bow to 3
-2 to raise Hunting to 2
-2 to raise Healing to 2.

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
For this Tauriel I would
1. Maybe use the New Hope template. She is in favor of helping strangers, for what we have seen in the small snippets from the movie. Working for th king and being an emissary of the king are 2 different things, after all.
2. If using the Emissary template, make her nimble instead of quick of hearing.
3. Give her wood-elf magic. Deadly archery pretty much sucks when your basic Heart is 2. Much easier to make the bow shots count making them penetrating
4. Make Hunt a favoured skills Inspire (a leader needs to inspire her men, or elves in this case) and Hunting. Healing does not seem to fit much the character concept.
And that would be it Basically an elven shooter "legolas movie style".
Cheers,
Xavi

Re: Tauriel as a beginning TOR character
I did toy with using the New Hope template and I understand how it might be a better fit. Your explanation for Wood-elf Magic vs. Deadly Archery makes sense and I will impliment that. Let's just say that making Healing a favoured skill emphasises Tauriel's "feminine energy" and leave it at that.Elmoth wrote:For this Tauriel I would

Healing should be higher, I think. At LEAST 3, and you could even justify 4.

I can't make Tauriel's Healing score higher as a beginning character; she would need more experience.Angelalex242 wrote:Healing should be higher, I think. At LEAST 3, and you could even justify 4.
