Tauriel as a beginning TOR character

With The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug coming up in a few months, I was wondering what Peter Jackson's original character Tauriel might look like as a beginning Elf hero for TOR. We know relatively little about her beyond a brief description and a video clip or two, but recent comments by actress Evangeline Lilly indicate that Tauriel is 600 years old (confirmed by dialog between Tauriel and Legolas in TH:DoS) and a "ruthless killer". I wrote up what I think she might be like as a player character. Where do you think that i've erred and what would you do differently?

Evangeline Lilly on Tauriel in Total FIlm:
“She’s a very, very young elf,” Lilly told us. “She’s only 600 years old, unlike Legolas who’s like, 1,900 years old and Thranduil who’s about 3,000 years old. She doesn’t have quite the wisdom and pose that those two boys do; she’s a little more... gritty. A little more spontaneous, passionate perhaps.”

Taking her bow in The Desolation Of Smaug, Tauriel is a fighter who makes a mess with finesse. “To play this character I need to have a certain amount of grace,” said Lilly. “But I’m also supposed to be an absolutely ruthless, deadly killer."

The age given for Legolas comes from a couple of the film sourcebooks which give his year of birth as TA 87 (give or take). Based on the above article, I'm revising my write-up to make Tauriel a Slayer.

I think you are making a mistake with selecting her Calling based on her abilities. These aren't character classes; Slayer (or even Warden) doesn't mean a good warrior, it's a motivation. There isn't anything saying that she is out for revenge, which is what would point to Slayer.

Without knowing more about her character, any Calling is a shot in the dark.

I based the calling more on Evangeline Lilly's comment about Tauriel being a "ruthless killer" more than on anything else. But you are right that we don't know enough about her backstory to make that a solid call. I'm including a lot of guesswork here. I've tried to make a balanced beginning heroine that is also reasonably true to what we have seen and heard about the film-character.

The last few articles I've seen about the character Tauriel put her at around 300 years old instead of 600, so I am revising the Adventurer write-up accordingly. I am also substituting "Swimming" for "Elven-lore" under her Specialties. When we find out more about the film character's background I may end up making further revisions.

So, is anyone else thinking that Tauriel might not survive Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy? I am half-expecting her to die at the Battle of the Five Armies.

I'm hoping most things from Peter Jackson's vision of the Hobbit die at the Battle of Five Armies, including Tauriel, which is Sindarin for "We need a strong feminist presence to draw in the girl fans and increase revenues; preferably one with a "ruthless killer" bent to show that girls can be GI Janes too."

And you guys squawked at me cuz I want to kill Aragorn in my campaign.....sheesh.

This is just for fun, seeing what Tauriel would look like as a beginning Adventurer for TOR. At this point, based on the DoS trailers that have been released, I'm not even 100% sure about her being a Slayer; Warden may turn out to be more appropriate, depending on the details of her background.

Tauriel did look a bit too Mary Sue-ish, back when she was the young Wood-elf prodegy named Itaril. She seems to be a more reasonalble addition now and it doesn't look like she is going to take over the films once she shows up. I am starting to think that she is going to show up at both Dol Guldur and at the Battle of Five Armies, which is one conflict too many, in my opinion. I hope that I'm wrong.

Agreed. Because nothing says Tolkien-hero like the words "Ruthless, deadly killer"
The Hobbit movies died, for me, right after they finished singing Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold.
