Magic Items as Rewards

Have any of the published adventures rewarded characters with exceptional or magic items? Just curious...

Going from memory there is the Coup of Friendship (or a similar name) in the last years of the Darkening of Mirkwood (you have to defeat one of big bad boss of the campaign to get it)

Yeah there aren't really any magic items as rewards, as far as ones created through the process in the Rivendel book. But that shouldn't stop you from giving magic items as rewards if you want, especially if you think the player(s) deserve it, or have failed a lot on rolling items from treasure hoards.

I gave one of my players a magical axe as a reward, it was during a Hazard that they failed to stop and it ended up with a barn full of cows getting burned to death. So the player gave the farmer a bunch of Treasure as he felt guilty, the Treasure was way more than the cows were worth. So I had the farmer give him his great grandfathers old axe that he had kept in the attic, he had no use for it and he felt indebted to the hero. The player in question was the only one without a magical weapon at that point.

But you could have a treasure room at the end of an adventure and just have an Item sitting there as well as the normal treasure, or have a Patron gift it.

I gave three of my four players some significant magic items (weapons) after they helped the Dwarves for a couple of years in retaking the Greydelve.

Part of why I did this was because there had been such bad luck in gaining items via the random rolls when they came across the occasional Hoard.

Now they have tough choices to make (and one of them is considering retirement), as the many magical items push their Eye Awareness high enough that they're right on the precipice of a Revelation Episode, getting one every time an EoS is rolled outside of combat.
Adventure Summaries for my long-running group (currently playing through The Darkening of Mirkwood/Mirkwood Campaign), and the Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
