Can a battle success be used for a protection roll?

As far as I know I believe you can. The bonus dices provided by the Battle roll can be used for any roll within the combat, so I guess that protection and task rolls are included.

Indeed they can. And they have many times in my campaign.


I love allowing the players to describe/narrate the cinematic reason(s) that the abstracted bonus d6 takes place.

Recently, they fought some cave spiders while trying to rescue the Hobbit Dindy (In Stewed Hobbits), and a player used a bonus d6 for his protection roll against the bite - describing how he cleverly used a stalagmite to duck behind and use as cover to shield him from much of the spider's bite.

Similarly I've heard them use trees, and large rocks in place of the stalagmite. One described wedging his shield in place just in the nick of time. Moving, ducking, rolling, dodging etc are always fan-favorites as well.

In this document from Francesco he specifically said that Bonus Dices can be used on Protection Rolls.
