Hi All,
One of my players had a question and I couldn't really answer it. It was to do with the way achievement points are earned. We both get the how the first, second and third points are earned in a skill group. But the question is do they need to be earned in a certain order?
Example: One of my players had rolled and was able to earn a point for the third advancement point slot where a great or extraordinary success AND a relevant trait is required, but had not obtained any points in that skill group prior to the roll.
I normally say that the points have to be gained in order - success, great success OR trait, great success AND trait. But my players asked can they have the third AP checked off before the other two. This means that advancement is potentially quicker, which is something I need to consider too as I don't want the characters to be more powerful than expected towards the end of the DoM campaign.
What are your thoughts? How do you guys allocate AP?
Cheers,
Kurt
Advancement Points
Re: Advancement Points
No, they cant. The three points have to be gained in order. It's a control measure to avoid too many APs.
Re: Advancement Points
Thanks Falenthal,
I thought this was the case and it's the way that I have been awarding points. I just needed to check.

Re: Advancement Points
Just a reminder, but the player can still check off the first circle for that skill. It just that his great roll ends up being overkill as far as advancement goes.
Re: Advancement Points
Thanks atgxtg, that's the way AP points in our game are currently accumulated. Glad to know that I was doing it the correct way.
