Re: Miniatures for TOR
Thanks for that Arthadan, I have downloaded issue 15 & found your article very interesting.
Perhaps your next article could be on Elves?

Can Other Minds rightfully be called a magazine when its frequency of publication averages as annual? Your article, though, does sound interesting.Arthadan wrote:Hi all,
I've begun a serie of articles about suitable miniatures for our favourite game which will appear in Other Minds magazine. The first one about hobbits is out, along with some other great content...

Apologies. It was meant to be a bit cheeky, but I wasn't trying to be mean-spirited or abrasive. My sense of humor can be a bit...wry. This was the first time I have visited the Other Minds site.Jon Hodgson wrote:Less pointless jibes at folks trying to make something interesting please. Thank you.

No problem! Besides, I didn't say it was a monthly magazine or anything.

Last month to vote for your favourite race to be portrayed in Middle-earth in Miniature!

So far it's going to be Dwarves, I'm letting my beard grow...

Re: Miniatures for TOR
My first miniature this year :'(
This is a home cast using Prince August molds. The metal temperature was wrong and the miniature came out with missing parts and soft detail. 20 years after I've decided to give him all my love.
Head and axe are Wargames Factory and it has sculpted bits all around.
Click on the pics for bigger size.
Face close-up:
Story:
Frumgar is a Leofring who claims to be a decendant of Fram Dragonkiller, the hero who defeated Scatha. Thus, he has a dragon on his shield and he says Dragonkiller is his family name by birthright. More of a hardened sellsword than a hero, it remains to be seen which side he will line with in the dark times ahead.

If I understanded it correctly, you made the miniature yourself? And painted it yourself?Arthadan wrote: This is a home cast using Prince August molds. The metal temperature was wrong and the miniature came out with missing parts and soft detail. 20 years after I've decided to give him all my love.
I'll have to hire you in the future... to do some elves, of course.
Re: Miniatures for TOR
I've cast the miniatures myself, but using commercial moulds. Usually home-made metal miniatures are not a good idea as gravity is not enough to spread the thick metal inside the mould and you need a centrifuge to do it properly, but I was young and it was fun! Resin is a much better option.
About comissions, I'm afraid I'm not taking any. I'm a very slow painter and to make it worth it my prices should be ridiculously expensive, plus my huge lead mountain is waiting for me.
