Alternate forums?

As well as TOR and AiME sell, and as popular as they are overall, I would expect the forums here to be much more active than they are. An entire day goes by and there are only an handful of posts between the two forums, which is pretty sad for any forum. So does anyone know of a forum on another site that is more active for general discussion of the game? I do know there is a house rules sub-forum here for TOR, but that is not what I am looking for.

AFAIK there are no other forums for discussing the One Ring or AiME game systems specifically. Odd threads do turn up on other forums from time to time but nothing substantive.

Actually this forum is more active than a lot of general RPG ones I lurk on.
At the end of the day if people want to discuss more then they should post more.

I like to image that TOR folks are too busy playing the game to argue on the internet, and D&D folks are too busy arguing on the internet to play the game.
(More seriously, it may be that if you stripped all the pointless debates, trolling, and personal attacks out of the more active RPG forums they would end up looking more like this one. Heck, simply deleting threads about metagaming and Warlords would reduce some of them by about 50%.)

The lack of activity might be due to the general simplicity of the game system. So there isn't a lot of game mechanics that need to be discussed or debated. The low keyed/low powered approach of magic means there is less to debate about there, and no need for stacking limits, since few characters will have all that many magical items.
And then there is the setting. Since the game is set during the end of the third age and the War of the Ring, it does somewhat restrict the types of adventures and locales involved. So with only one general setting, there is only so much to deal with there. Not like some other RPGs where a Gm could be creating his own game world.

Outside of D&D go look at any game specific forum and this one will compare pretty favourably. It's near the top of the list of the more active ones. And remember TOR is a pretty straightforward system with very few expansions so there's not a whole lot to debate, especically considering the game isn't new - its been around for a while.

We could talk about Balrog wings again...
For they delved too deep into the forum history and awoke a Thing of Shadow and Flame, a nameless terror...

I think there's a lot of factors at work, but I agree with those who say 'be the change you want to see'. There are lots of folks who lurk; post something that you want to talk about and hopefully someone will bite.
