Fully-explorable-middle-earth-modeled?
Has anyone seen this?
This would be a great tool down the line for those of us (like me) that like to put images up on their mounted HD tv of Middle Earth!

Man if they can get this on the Oculus Rift, it would really be wicked. I keep imagining having the TOR party when they enter a new area, for me to record my movements of the path they are walking into. So many idea for this!

This looks amazing!
As a side note, do you have an Oculus Rift?

This does look amazing.
Just so I understand clearly, this is a project in the works....not currently available?

From what I can gather from the article you need to get the program they've used and then download some of their files.. but I have no idea how beasty a computer you'd need for it to work

It works on my laptop(granted fairly solid gaming laptop), but its not too crazy to run for most with modern computers I think.
The one thing I don't like is the rivers really need to be done ASAP. That's the one change that would massively improve it. As it stands all the rivers appear in zoomed out but disappear into simple depressions up close.

I do not have a Oculus Rift, I believe it's still in development for consumer purchasing at least.Beleg wrote:This looks amazing!

I have a Mac but I think right now the program (and the files) only run on Windows. I hope to get a better laptop sometime this year and maybe this project will be rocking by then.
Just thought it would be something cool for us Middle Earth fans on the TOR site to check out.

If they work this out finally, this will be a blast in the head...

Yeah, I noticed this. I have a windows laptop but I doubt it could cope, and as you say, it's windows only, so my mac wouldn't work. Unless of course it were possible to use a winewrapper to trick it.. I'll have to look into it I thinkI have a Mac but I think right now the program (and the files) only run on Windows. EDIT: So I gave it a go and sadly the program gets as far as opening a window before it crashes
