Thanks for sharing this great tale, there seems to have been moments of both heroic acceptance worthy of myth and creative player input.
Is there a chronicle somewhere of your Darkening Campaign? It would be really nice to read more about it! I'm especially interested in the offspring of the old heroes taking over after the old. Were the players keen on this, and were the old heroes alive?
In my own Campaign the heroes are getting close to being too old for adcenturing but I'm not sure how to convince them to lay their Mighty heroes aside to start anew with beginning ones.
The players knew the generational aspect of the game from the start as I set that expectation from the beginning. There isn't a chronicle anywhere public I'm afraid, but I did try to post some of the adventures on these forums and at rpg.net but I wasn't able to keep up with posting the sessions.

Congratulations on running the entirety of the Tale of Years! That's a rare accomplishment.
Thanks. I haven't completed a long-running campaign since I was a kid, and never one that ran that long! It was nice to have committed, invested players.

I complimented Becket on the amazing end to his campaign over on G+, but mention of Gencon reminded me to say that if any TOR fans are going to the con, stop by and say hi. I'm about to start up an Eriador based campaign and would love to talk some TOR/ME at the con. I'll be at the Arc Dream booth (#431) most days, not too far from C7.

I'm a TOR fan and I'm going to the con, John.

Huh, you're a TOR fan? Never would have guessed...
(
Hey John, I'll say hi too! TS is cooler than me, though. )

I'll drop by, but I'm also not as cool as TS.

Thanks for the report Marco, which I found very enjoyable. I particularly liked the Hobbit going off to write the definitive guide to cooking Mushrooms - it's details like that which raise TOR above the average
.

On the topic of GenCon, I'll be at the Pelgrane booth (1317) most of the con. Always happy to talk TOR and enthuse about Tolkien.
