This was my introduction to Middle Earth. One of my Dad's students gave me a copy of the Hobbit. It was my first actual "grown-up" book that hadn't already been on the family bookshelves.

Amazing how a one little picture like that can change one's life. Frame it...place it in a place of honor

Here is another great picture. I love how it tells a story... That is the problem with a lot of the modern rpg art...no story being told within the art.

I commissioned Jon Hodgson to paint it for me. The characters in the picture are the PCs from my campaign - The Fellowship of the Free. Thogrim, Gilbrannon, Brand, Iwgar, and his hound 'Wolf'.
The picture is a composite of individual character paintings - which I also have, but the above picture is the one I'd pick to sum things up for me.

Yeah, that's a wonderful addition to a game, cept now it means the PCs can't die.

Jon's painting of the "Fellowship" must be a wonderful thing for your group. They certainly have the look of an adventuring company in Middle Earth.
The Angus McBride painting of Eowyn and the Witch King captures what I picture his fell mount as looking like perfectly.

Yeah, Jon's a great artist. I loved his work on Dragon Warriors and when he was announced as one of the artists on the (then upcoming) One Ring I thought it was a perfect fit.

Cause a portrait like that makes them too awesome to kill now.
It's ok. You can still maim them.

The player of the Dwarf said that once they were done! I'm not looking to kill the PCs but I do like the idea of getting Jon to produce more pictures based upon how the fellowship develops over time.
... I must get around to asking him if he wants to do something with regard to the hobbits in my "Three's Company" campaign. I had a nice idea for a group picture for that.

I disagree - a portrait like that works wonderfully with the caption underneath "the last known painting of the brave adventures before their tragic expedition to Dol Guldur/Moria/Mordor."

I almost spit out my drink laughing when I read this. You appear to be just as twisted an LM as the rest of us
PS That's still pretty awesome that the pic represents the company.
