Mr. Hemlocks, I remember that cover pic well. I had that as a poster on my wall back in the 70s. It's a stylistic but very evocative (& timely) image.

I really like Anke's Middle-earth art, which you can find at http://anke.edoras-art.de/. She has something for almost every chapter of The Lord of the Rings. I hope she does the same with The Hobbit.

Here is the image I use for my profile picture. This may be it for me. "Gandalf Comes to Bag End"

If I may, here's one more. "The Departure of Boromir". You can see Legolas gently laying the broken Horn of Gondor upon his body.

Take a look at The Lay of Lúthian at http://anke.edoras-art.de/anke_tolkien_leithian.html.

I also really like the Faromir and Éowyn paintings, and "The first meeting of Aragorn and Arwen," all at http://anke.edoras-art.de/anke_tolkien_lotr6.html.

Jon, this is wonderful. I can't read this part without weeping like Éomir, and you have captured it all. This may be my favorite of your works.

I enjoy this one from Jon so much that I downloaded & printed it off when I originally discovered it. The painting now resides in my Rohirrim file, & provides suitable inspiration for adventures thereof ;)

Speaking of Anke, I like Imrahil tends to his nephew. It captures a number of issues that speak to me. The armour & such may be a bit beyond how I see the Gondorians, however, the Norman (or later Saxon) influence is certainly an improvement over some interpretations that seem like they stepped out of Crécy or Poitiers.

I need to ask Jon, may I have it printed to hang in my reed workshop? Looking at beautiful works helps me make beautiful reeds.

Anke's works are so personal, aren't they? She seems to forego the big, epic scenes in favor of relational scenes. It was hard to choose just a couple, but my favorite has to be, "Gandalf comes to Bag End."

Agreed. That's another one of my favorites of her work.

This is not exactly in the spirit of the rest of this thread, but I was envisioning my favorite scenes from Tolkien and this popped into my mind:

You may need to be a WoW player to appreciate it.
