Mr. Hemlocks, I remember that cover pic well. I had that as a poster on my wall back in the 70s. It's a stylistic but very evocative (& timely) image.

I enjoy this one from Jon so much that I downloaded & printed it off when I originally discovered it. The painting now resides in my Rohirrim file, & provides suitable inspiration for adventures thereof

Speaking of Anke, I like Imrahil tends to his nephew. It captures a number of issues that speak to me. The armour & such may be a bit beyond how I see the Gondorians, however, the Norman (or later Saxon) influence is certainly an improvement over some interpretations that seem like they stepped out of Crécy or Poitiers.

Anke's works are so personal, aren't they? She seems to forego the big, epic scenes in favor of relational scenes. It was hard to choose just a couple, but my favorite has to be, "Gandalf comes to Bag End."
