one picture that says it 'all'- one picture to rule them all
This one picture best summarizes my entire gaming experience. I like how the Hobbits, Dwarves and Elves look. If only I could be there with them...

I'm not too thrilled with the Elves in that painting (by the Hildebrandts, I assume). Why does Legolas have a twin? Is that supposed to be Haldir? Why are they dressed in white?

I don't think the aim of the game here is to rag on other people's choice of singular gaming art, but to find your own. Challenge accepted.... (trots off to find a piece o' art)...

Well, I didn't mean for him to change-out the illustration with another. I just found that particular choice to be an odd one on the part of the artist(s). It might make more sense in the context of the scene it was supposed to represent.Giblet Blizzard wrote:I don't think the aim of the game here is to rag on other people's choice of singular gaming art, but to find your own. I had two pictures, the one was an alt, at first because the one was TOOO large and could not display correctly. He was referring to that one...I guess. I deleted the first and reposted with the picture I intended after his reply.
All good...

Yes, we all have our own tastes in art & there's certainly no wrong or right, per se.
That said, I find that some of my favorite interpretations of the Fellowship of the Ring include:
1. Take a look at the top of Pauline Baynes' map of Middle-earth poster (I won't post it here to avoid issues). She interviewed Tolkien & while you only see them walking away from the viewer (extended reaching into space ), IMHO she did a superb job of capturing their respective dimensions, weapons, clothes, etc.
2. Angus McBride's version of the battle within the Chamber of Mazarbul rocks!
3. Tim Kirk has several representations of members of the Fellowship, including a great one of Gimli & the Hobbits at Kheled-zâram (see my sig), & Frodo with Galadriel, as well as Bilbo & Gollum & another where he's with Gandalf.

I like many Middle Earth illustrations but this is one of my favorite, hangs on my wall
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

Don't start arguments over who has a better grasp of hiking and boating or someone might just bring down the banhammer.
