Using miniatures in TOR combat

Post by Mordjinn » Tue Jan 28, 2014 7:51 pm

There's another thread about which miniatures to use but since I have hundreds already I'm more interested how to use miniatures in TOR combat.

The simplest way is to use them as markers on the stance board, but has anyone used them to make combat less abstract? Having stance cards to mark the stance but doing combat on some kind of tactical map? At least Rich H seemed to have a very, very nice board for Battle of the Amon Naugrim in the other thread. What kind of rules did you use?

I know my players would love it if I could make combat less abstract.

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. Tried searching the forum but my search-fu is weak :(

A board like thing would have been great with combat stances on it and every monster and pc standing on their own places etc.
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.
