That's right, the RAW doesn't say that Favoured Body is used for damage; Favoured Body is used when spending Hope in order to attack with a Favoured weapon, not to do damage.

I have the English version too.
As you mentioned your use is actually a HR, but I think it's a pretty good one.

So Favoured Weapons get a bonus to hit *and* to damage? ... What about 'Weapon Groups'? I think adopting such a rule creates too big a gap (in balance) between the two categories of weapon, personally.

Now that I've actually reread what the rules say rather than what I thought they said I'm dropping the Favoured Body score as extra damage when using Hope.

True, I tend to forgot about that rule since none of my players carries more than one weapon per group.

The Favoured Attribute is only used as an Attribute Bonus to the roll when you spend a point of Hope on a Favoured Skill (including a Favoured Weapon Skill), but never as a damage bonus.
Otherwise a Favoured Weapon would be much better than a Weapon Group, as some of you have said.
Remember that your DAMAGE value is equal to your Basic Body Attribute (unless you have a Virtue that increases your Damage), and that's the value you add when you roll a Great or Extraordinary Success.

If you feel you're not doing enough Damage. try increasing your Damage Value with Virtues such as Fell-handed or Rewards such as Grievous.

Always Grievous first.

It increases WEAPON damage, so it applies even if the success is not great or extraordinary.

By that alone, it puts every other damage boosting virtue to shame.

My players have gone for Keen first. Not one of the four players has Grievous, three have purchased Keen; as it significantly increases the threat range of a Wound which they see as more important than increasing base damage.

I think that both have their perks and whenever one is more important than the other ultimately boils down to the style of the character. A character using a massive weapon (like a two handed axe) would probably benefit more from Grievous to make short work of his opponents, whereas someone using light weapons would prefer Keen to disable them quicker.

For light weapons Fell can be better than Keen as it raises the Injury Rating. Protection Tests against many light weapons are fairly easy to pass without their rating being raised.
