I understand what you mean now. Precisly for this reason, you should not allow this rule to govern other parts of the game, than the ones decribed in the RAW.
If your argument is also against Awareness in case of an ambush, then I find it very convincing that a very alert Look-out is able to warn the rest of the company, regardless if they have poor awareness themselves.
Yeah, that's it. The whole spending a success level to help an ally was mostly for the travel rules and ambush/imitative situations and reflect things like warning someone of of a trap ahead, grapping hold of someone if they are about to slip and fall, etc.

Where it breaks down is in situations where the ally actually has to do something himself and could mess things up before the other hero could help. Something like snapping a twig noise while attempting to sneak up on an orc. By the time the hero could help his ally, it's probably too late. And if if he could help, he could only do so much.

This is why I think if the ally rolls "the "Eye sit should prevent anyone from being able to boost his roll to a success. he idea being that they messed up before the other hero gets a chance to stop them. For instance blundering into some orcs or dropping a pebble down a well in Moria, before Gandalf could act to prevent it.

You can easily use the Eye Awareness mechanic to represent when things go wrong and cannot be helped.
Pippin failing a Search with an Eye triggered a revelation in Moria.
Stepping on a twig is a bad thing while sneaking, but the argument is that you can assist ONLY when setting up an ambush. It is reasonable that a skilled Ranger can hide his team.
Eyes rolled on stealth will also add to Eye Awareness, so if a revelation happens, then the ambush will fail...

But it is your table. I’m just arguing to not change the RAW.
