Coverage of Southern Lands?

Post by Keeper of The Vales » Fri Feb 07, 2014 1:09 am

I was intrigued by the original plan for boxed sets (as I understood it) when the game initially came out, and have been more than happy with the products so far, but given that the boxed-set model appears to have been abandoned I was wondering if support was still being considered for more southerly lands such as Rohan etc, and secondarily if the timeline would be advanced by further supplements? I feel comfortable enough in my knowledge of the literature to cover these things without official support, but a colour-coded hexmap similar to that included in the original box would be incredibly handy.

I think there will soon be An Announcement about future plans for the game (they were talking about it being made by end of Jan, but you know how things go). You're not alone in wanting information about other locales and cultures; there are a number of fan made expansions to keep you busy if you can't wait. As for a hex map, that shouldn't be too hard to whip one together.

You are not alone in wanting to Rohan and Gondor get coverage. For a minute when you said South I thought you meant Harad..

Thanks for the information! I hadn't heard about the new announcement, but that surely is a thrilling prospect.

If TOR stays in-print long enough, I would like to eventually see the entire official map covered from the Haradwaith and Umbar in the South to Rhun and Khand in the East to Forochel and the Northern Waste. Who knows? It might be fun to play one of the Lossoth, a child of an Easterling trader, or a renegade Corsair.

Me, ambitious? At least I'm not asking about Avari in the forests near the East Sea or Dwarves in the Grey Mountains of Far Harad.

I did these maps, based on Christopher Tolkien's maps from the book. They're the same scale as the Rhovanion map in terms of hex size.
