Oaths of the Riddermark - pre-order now!
Re: Oaths of the Riddermark - pre-order now!
Makes sense. Well, the mysterious typo doesn't make sense. But that it was a typo of some sort does. Ironically enough I also got the year wrong in my question. I am certain HoR is not set to 2050's. The Éothéod wasn't even in Rohan (then Calenardhon) yet.Jon Hodgson wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 4:35 pmA very bizarre typo, that I think might have been an autocorrect. Which is very odd. The same text was used here, on the website and on facebook.
The error only appeared here and on Facebook. Very odd indeed.
The correct date is 2955.

Wow, first scenario is f****** good The mood of this supplement really start to please me. It's more of an adult setting than the other supplement...
Nothing of Worth.

The pre-gens are choice and add a great touch.T.S. Luikart wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 5:25 pmLooking forward to what everybody thinks of the new pre-gens.
I hope you guys continue doing that in future books.

Perfect timing, just one day after my Christmas Club account moved over into my checking account so I have money for an early Christmas present.

Ever since I have read the Horse Lords I was looking forward to this! I think Horse-Lords is the best sourcebook TOR has put out since the Heart. Can't wait for this one!
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

That's really good to hear, as that scenario was a real piece of teamwork with TS, Francesco and myself all putting in writing work on that one. I think The Grimgelad (no spoilers plz) is a really great location, written by TS. And Francesco worked some real magic on the ending, polishing it right up.

I read it last night, and liked it a lot.
To me, it keeps up TOR's tradition of "not pulling punches".
There is drama, and there is real danger.
Being an Hero isn't easy.

On the art part of the book:
It's sad that there aren't more Hodgson's scenes (only two landscape pictures in the whole book!). Although I have to admit that only "everything by Jon Hodgson" would be enough for me.
It's good news that we finally have different full character drawings for the same Culture. The pregens are all charming! It would be nice to see something similar for other Cultures in the future, as supplements come out.
And it's VERY good news the discovery (for me at least) of the excellent quality of the black and white portraits of the different NPCs that aren't made by Jon. I don't really know which one of the other artists it is (Andrew Hepworth, maybe?), but their detail and expression is awesome.

It looks to me that the final battle might even be too much for a starting fellowship, doesn't it?
It really sets the danger threshold very high!
Reminded me of the first adventure from Bree, by the way. I like this format of "big monster hunter" much better than the typical "dungeon crawling". A la Beowulf or Shadow of the Colossus.
