The Wild Card option will probably come in very handy in that opening adventure.

It looks to me that the final battle might even be too much for a starting fellowship, doesn't it?
It really sets the danger threshold very high!
Read the Unlikely Allies box on Page 119 carefully.

Basically - if the company hasn't made any allies, they are unlikely to all survive through Woes of Winter.

and there is real danger.
Being an Hero isn't easy.

I agree.
And I find it faithful to the souce material.
By the way, it's the same thing that I thought when I first read The Marsh-Bell years ago: not all of them will make it home again.
Your comparison to Beowulf is very fitting.

I was refering to the enemy of the first adventure (which is the last battle of that adventure). But I like what I read there!

And it's VERY good news the discovery (for me at least) of the excellent quality of the black and white portraits of the different NPCs that aren't made by Jon. I don't really know which one of the other artists it is (Andrew Hepworth, maybe?), but their detail and expression is awesome.
Those are by Jan Pospisil, and he's brilliant! He's done lots more work for some future titles too, so look out for those!

Second scenario read [no spoiler, relax] : after a starter worth his weight in gold, heroes will be pushed to their limits: gamemaster should advise players to made a well balanced group :D

Nice scenario, either. It emphasize the violent trend of the Rohirrim culture. It's a personnal vision of the authors, and it's a good one I think. You should put a rating for this supplement 15+ :D

BTW, the scimitars borne by the (spoiler alert) on page 78 caught me by surprise. I'm used to seeing the Orcish heavy blades of course, but am pleasantly surprised about that little tidbit. :)

Of course, you can't have *SPOILER* without...CURVED. SWORDS.
