Pre-gens in Oaths of the Riddermark (typos and questions)
I've read most of the supplement by now and it is of course great! The more I read it the more it seems tailor made for a group of Riders, i.e. a complete company from a single culture. Luckily Cubicle 7 provided us with just that!
I've noticed a few typos/errors in the pre-gens though, along with a question about the Glinting spear.
- Saewara of Starkhorn is a Wanderer but has the Scholar's Shadow-weakness (Lure of secrets). Probably a mistake.
- Seawara is stated to have a Grievous spear but the stats are not right for the Spear. Damage, injury and encumbrance suggest that it is in fact a Great spear so it should be renamed but even the the damage is wrong and should be 11 instead of 9 (due to the Grievous quality).
- Thuna has a Reinforced shield but her Parry is not adjusted according to this and should be +3 for Shield.
- Wulf has a Glinting spear, a Reward from Horse-lords of Rohan. There it is stated that the reward is a Spear, not a Greatspear, but now the Glinting spear is described as a Greatspear. Is this 1. a mistake? 2. A special weapon just for this character or 3. an example of a general rule and Woodland bows can be Great bows etc? That would be a surprising rule though a probably would unbalance things.

If it's typo time...
I've only got through the first two scenarios - which are both clever and nicely original: lots of encounters as suggested in pre-publication speculation. The art work is really exciting: I can hardly wait for the hard copy to drool over.
Anyway I got to page 44 (the end of the second story) with these. I hope that they are of use:
Oaths of the Riddermark pdf
Page 4 Breakout box para 2 line 4 ‘add’ should be “adds”
Page 7 column 2 para 2 final line is it “hunts in” or “haunts”, instead of ‘hunts’?
Page 11 column 2 para 3 line 2 possibly change the first ‘on’ into “from” to read …’ a good vantage point from which’ …
Page 15 column 2 para 1 line 3 ..’probe to deeply’… is …”probe too deeply”…
Page 18 column 1 final para final word ‘bellow’ is probably “below”
Page 26 column 1 para 7 line 2 ‘one of the Rider’ should be “one of the Riders”
Page 32 column 1 para 3 line 2 replace ‘arranged’ with “arranging”
Page 32 column 1 para 5 line 2 replace ‘took’ with “take”
Page 32 column 2 para 1 line 1 change ‘gives’ to “give”
Page 32 column 2 para 4 line 3 missing final “r” for “consider”
Page 32 column 2 para 6 line 10 delete change to “Successful Riddle rolls garner..” ?
Page 33 column 2 para 1 line 4 ?? add “will” before ‘either’??
Page 34 column 1 para 7 line 5 is it ‘lead’ or “head”??
Again, I cannot say properly how these are intense and actually gripping storylines. Must get back to the following adventures now.
Brilliant.

Since you are at it, Saewara got a Spear and a (Great) Spear as equipment, but her Fatigue is just 23, 2 less than you would expect from someone with both these weapons.Dunkelbrink wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 4:30 pm(...)

Probably it's a leftover from different playtestings where a Spear or a Great Spear were tried.
That said, great book.

- Saewara's Shadow Weakness should be Wandering madness.Dunkelbrink wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 4:30 pmI've read most of the supplement by now and it is of course great! - Her spear is a Grievous Spear, not a Great Spear. Stats and Fatigue will be fixed accordingly.
- (1). Horse-lords of Rohan is correct. A Glinting Spear can only be a Spear and not a Great Spear.
These typos will be corrected in the pdf and the physical version of the book.

An updated file, with the corrected pregens and various other spottings corrected, is now available! Thanks for your spotting! And thank to Amado for correcting those errant pregens!

Thank you, you had been really quick!Jon Hodgson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2017 2:54 pmAn updated file, with the corrected pregens and various other spottings corrected, is now available! Thanks for your spotting! And thank to Amado for correcting those errant pregens!
Now, I'm a bit embarassed, but in ver.2 you have missed some very minor typo on Wulf's sheet:
under "Rewards" there is still the description:
(Great Spear +4 Injury on a charge)
and in the weapons sections it's still listed as "Great Spear"
Really, when I prepare characters for one shots I miss a ton of such mishaps, even if I check many times, so I imagine your pain

Dammit Janet! We'll get that fixed. Maybe in the next update, just so we aren't bombarding anyone with updates.Corvo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2017 3:17 pmThank you, you had been really quick!Jon Hodgson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2017 2:54 pmAn updated file, with the corrected pregens and various other spottings corrected, is now available! The proofers always do another pass or two after release, because somehow that's when all those cheeky mistakes become extra visible!

Great, thanks for answers and update. And, before I forget it, I wonder what the third playable culture is in the Erebor sourcebook that's advertised at the end (can only come up with two). And I am also intrigued by the rules for mountain combat that Horse-lords of Rohan is supposed to include (same page 144).

Oooh can't leave mountain combat in there.
There's a new PDF downloadable now. I haven't notified all purchasers since it's only those minor tweaks in place. But yes. Mountain combat no less...

Re: Pre-gens in Oaths of the Riddermark (typos and questions)
Still on about typos (I bet many of these have been spotted by now) and several of these are just my opinion or the way I read it.
Page 46 column 1 para 3 line 4 change ‘lives’ to “live”
Page 49 column 1 para 5 line 5 change the first ‘make’ into “may” ?
Page 49 column 1 para 5 line 6 ‘learnt’ probably should read “learn” ?
Page 51 column 1 para 1 line 3 Should the colon be a full stop?
Page 51 column 2 para 1 line 5 ‘his warrior’s lives’ should be “his warriors’ lives” (unless it’s a single cat warrior with 9 lives!)
Page 59 column 2 para 6 (final para) line 7 ‘your are foreigners’ to be “you are foreigners”
Page 62 column 1 final para line 6 delete ‘if’ to read “believes that the death of the Grey Horse”
Page 69 column 2 para 3 line 7 is it “she is likely to be aware of it.”??
Page 73 column 1 para 5 line 1 change ‘tracks leads’ into “tracks lead”
Page 73 column 2 para 4 line 1 is NORTH-WEST intended here? To match the idea 8 lines later?
Page 78 column 1 para 1 line 1 “combat can go IN any direction” perhaps??
Page 79 column 2 para 1 line 2 delete the word ‘with’ to read “..bandit trail turns to the north”
Page 81 column 2 final para line 8 change ‘glimmerings’ to “glimmering of a plan”
Page 83 column 2 para 2 line 2 ‘with company’ to “with the company”
Page 87 column 2 para 1 line 7 delete the two words ‘belonging to’ or just alter it somehow.
I've got up to the end of Black Horses: this collection is just so good - it has a lot of variation from other adventure collections and is a huge credit to the originality and skill of the authors. The artwork is also impressive: amongst the best in the series: there is a lot more depth and STORY in the faces.
Just WOW.
