I can imagine it would be a challenge for Mr Manley to walk that fine line of producing artwork which is consistant with products already out on peoples bookshelves whilst also displaying and exhibiting his own unique talents as an artist. I think he has done a good job of finding that balance.
Excellent observation. I agree completely.

I'm personally not a fan of the cover; I don't think it's particularly evocative (I had the same feeling toward 'Oaths', although I liked Bree) and feels flat and uninspiring even though it's technically excellent.
Same here. With all due respect, neither Bree's nor Oath's nor this cover have anything to do with Jon Hodgson's or John Howe's covers, in quality or in evocative terms. Same thoughts also about this particular cover being flat... I even daresay blurred or not clear in perspective...

My comment is not a light or casual compliment to the referred two artists... at least in my vision, Jon Hodgson's art is an essential part of the piece-of-art that this game has become as a whole. I don't know if it is not thus for most fans of the game, but if it its I think that it would be wise for Cubicle 7 to pay some attention to this matter.

... And trying to be positive for a change ;) , I'll suggest that this supplement would have a set of pre-gen characters as in Oaths'.. I think it was a great idea for Oaths (really got you into the game) and I think it would work as well in Laughter and in any future supplement of the game.

I think if one takes this cover as a semi-abstracted, compressed representation of the landscape, rather than a realistic depiction, it works better. Otherwise the perspective is all wrong. In this respect it reminds me of Roger Garland's panoramic book covers from the 80s editions of Tolkien's works.

Will this supplement be a part of Darkening of MW, or will it form a separate storyline? I'd love more material to be inserted in my current campaign and usable with my current bunch of Companions?

Yes Kurt - I woke up to that sad news - such a talent, he will be missed, but his art will live on

The link takes me to Cubicle 7's main forum page.
Adventure Summaries for my long-running group (currently playing through The Darkening of Mirkwood/Mirkwood Campaign), and the Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

Mr. Garland passed away in October. The story was covered at The Tolkien Society.
"Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he."

That's strange. It is a link to the same page that OS posted above.

I used [url src="https://www.tolkiensociety.org/2017/10/ ... -has-died/"]. Maybe I did something wrong.

Edit: Yep, I typed the link incorrectly. It should have been [url= and not [url src=
