We're taking a modular approach to the rules sections and soaking the accompanying cost ourselves. So you will get rules for both systems, and you'll be able to remove the rules section you don't require, and rest easy knowing you paid no more for it.

We have no plans to convert any other forthcoming title to "dual stat", and we've never used that term officially. I have personally made it clear I dislike "dual statted" products. AME and TOR remain seperate lines as we have always said.
I'm very happy with this compromise solution :)
Not a fan of the dual-statted books that were released during the d20 glut...
The problem was that some universe don't fit with D20 system. It's not the dual system the problem.
Nothing of Worth.

I do understand where you're coming from. At the same time, I will admit to still being rather fond of my old Thieves' World adventure pack boxed-set (Chaosium; 1981) that included stats for: AD&D; Adventures in Fantasy; Chivalry & Sorcery; DragonQuest; D&D; The Fantasy Trip; RuneQuest, Traveller (!?!); and, Tunnels & Trolls.

I did decide to go dual-stat for my Optional Heroic Cultures that I have submitted to the Hall of Fire webzine. It just makes sense to make those useful for both TOR and AiMe.

I wasn't only talking about if the books were any good (most weren't) but about the layout issues: trying to find the section relevant to your ruleset was often a pain especially when a few lines were relevant to System A and they was buried between the paragraphs needed for the d20 implementation. IMHO, it was just ugly.
Separate books with the rulesy bits in them is just so much better!

Good morning!
To clear up some confusion:

We're taking a modular approach to the rules sections and soaking the accompanying cost ourselves. So you will get rules for both systems, and you'll be able to remove the rules section you don't require, and rest easy knowing you paid no more for it.

So let's say (for example) Moria is a box with 4 manuals in it. One will be the rules for TOR and one will be the rules for AME. You'll be able to throw one away/give it to a friend who has different tastes in rules. The price will be for a box with 3 manuals. Because as I said, we have your back. But we also want to make a Moria boxed set.

We have no plans to convert any other forthcoming title to "dual stat", and we've never used that term officially. I have personally made it clear I dislike "dual statted" products. AME and TOR remain seperate lines as we have always said.
Well, that all sounds much too sensible! :D I am a bit surprised that C7 are willing to take the hit on that extra book, although maybe it doesn't really add much cost for them. Not that I'm objecting, of course!

Much more interesting (to me) is the news that the rulesy bits will be in separate books, so the ones you're not using won't be annoying clutter. I'm only interested in TOR, so not having to wade through AIME rules is more important to me than the actual cost (within reason).

Clearly I am unusual in this, but I actually like dual-stat products. I like comparing the two views of an NPC or monster, and seeing how the same concept is implemented in different ways. Never had a problem with it in the ICE days and would be perfectly happy if TOR and AIME setting material was merged henceforth. Honestly, keeping them separate seems artificial and detrimental to productivity and sales.
Then C7 are giving you a huge box of win! Two seperate books of game stuff means you will literally be able to lay them side by side for comparison.

I would be more concerned about the possibility of the two Middle Earth lines being fused into a single dual stat line if the AiME bbooks were "just the TOR books reskinned with 5e mechanics", but they don't appear to be.

What about maps and the like? Do you think we'll get a gorgeous map of Moria? Perhaps a set of cards, that can interlock randomly, producing variations of hallways etc? Would this card set tie in with any delving rules?
I think for Moria a nodal map, rather than a detailing of every room, corridor, and hall might be a better approach. Assign nodes to teh major halls and features of interest then connect them by lines labled to indicate what sort fo route they were. An adaptation to the existing Journey rules could be made for travelling withing Moria.
I too imagine a nodal network - overlaid onto a (beautifully executed!) pictorial 'map', somewhat like the one of Angmar from Ruins of the North ... on steroids!

Oh, and underground journey rules that bear a striking resemblance to the Delving house rules worked up by Glorelendil :-)

C7 delivers quality. We can stop worrying about how they are going to do dual-system. Express opinions? Sure. But they’ve earned more than angst and hang-wringing.

I'll go one step further and hang my wringing, for typos.

On a more serious note, I'm getting excited despite not having had any interest in Moria previously. It's the C7 magic.

Of course, you know a good proportion of players would intentionally go looking for him, I would imagine especially on the AiMe side.
FWIW, I would bet my (AME) players wouldn't. And they are very high level with powerful magical weapons, and they just took down the Forest Dragon!
Adventure Summaries for my long-running group (currently playing through The Darkening of Mirkwood/Mirkwood Campaign), and the Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

I daresay that many of us REALLY appreciate the effort. Thanks, above all for your devotion to quality, Professor Tolkien's unparalleled work and customer's satisfaction.
