ME size comparison

Below are two links showing the size of ME compared to the US and Europe. It made me realize that it was smaller than I imagined it. So

Mirkwood is about the size of the UK. It's big enough.

These are pretty cool - I like the comparison maps.

Don't forget, however, that Middle-earth is simply supposed to be prehistoric earth :D

Tolkien once said that Hobbiton lay at about the lat & long of Oxford.

Of course, that is only the best-known part of Middle-earth. Technically, M-e is all of the lands West of Valinor and the Undying lands. The whole of Arda would look more like this:
