Oh, I wasn't meaning to imply that I thought C7 were really abandoning Wilderland, or never going to Umbar, Harad and the South.

I am very pleased to see Rohan getting some love and I expect Gondor will be on the list for 2015 as that is an area of huge importance that has not yet been touched upon at all.

Really the problem with Middle Earth is that it is huge! Even just he parts covered in the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are as big as Europe. Now cover, say, 11th century Europe in detail for RPG sourcebooks. Just the British Isles in 1066 could fill several sourcebooks.

I think it's a smart move to expand beyond Wilderland but agree with Dave and others that Wilderland needs to be detailed further. It's only my opinion but creating options for other groups that maybe don't want to game in and around Mirkwood will bring in new players and no doubt lead to further investment in the TOR line. We've all read in numerous places (here, RPGnet, etc), and maybe even share the same view, that people want to play Dunedain, Rohirrim and so on so it's no surprise these are being developed.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Francesco, Dom, Jon, et al come up with! I can't wait to get my hands on them all and just think of all the new gorgeous art we're going to see from Jon and the other guys that work on these products? Awesome and exciting times for TOR! 8-)

Just because the region covered by sourcebooks is expending there's no reason C7 can't come back and add more detail to existing areas later. I'd rather get some new areas now, rather than wait until every last bit of adventure has been wrung out of Wilderland.

As for Moria...agree that I greatly look forward to it. But I also hope that it takes years of playing TOR before characters are strong enough to set foot in it.

I agree that adding basic coverage to new regions is more important than deepening coverage of Wilderland because it broadens the appeal of the game: my experience is that many people investigating TOR are put off by the limited number of player-character cultures available. ("You mean I can't play a Ranger of the North, or a High Elf, or a Rider of Rohan?")

Getting the cultures and basics for a wider array of regions allows C7 to build adventures and other supplements wherever they want. But laying that groundwork is essential.

Hey guys, there is a short interview to Dom in Geek Native, regarding the new schedule.
Recreatividad is my blog in spanish, I write about roleplaying games, specially The One Ring, Mouse Guard, Diaspora and Prince Valiant. You can find custom characters sheets there.

I'm so overjoyed that I'm ready to leap out of my seat! How do I emphasize how well you're fulfilling my dream of an RPG for Middle-earth? This is exactly what I want & I'm simply blown away. Thank you to the C7 team :D .

These cultures are ideal for people who want to play Rangers, Rohirrim, or additional Elves, for example.

The settings rock! Angmar simply explodes off the pages with chilling adventures, & including Fornost Erain & the Barrow-downs open up endless possibilities for battling the servants of the Enemy.

Including the Bree-land gives us a whole new sanctuary (or at least dangerous setting, depending on your interpretation) to provide a base for our characters.

Discussing Tharbad leads to adventures there with Ruffians, Dunlendings, or the like, & a possible link to the Rohirrim.

Isengard means, well, there's an entire chronicle just in itself.

I also love that they're hardbound. Yes, they're more expensive, but I'm a collector as well as a gamer, & will purchase every one of 'em.

BTW, for those of you concerned about possibly leaving Wilderland behind, or not including Moria or the Corsairs, for example, note Dom's comment in this interview that FB provided for us (thanks FB :) ):

"There is a schedule for 2015 and beyond – we’ve got long-term plans for The One Ring."

The limited scope and lack of playable cultures almost turned me and my group off of the game, so I'm really glad to see Rohan and Eriador coming soon!

Very impressive, indeed. This is turning into THE best and most epic rpg for Tolkien fans.... ever!

Cheers!

I must be misreading this. How is there a lack of playable cultures? Woodmen, Beornings, Dwarves, Bardings, Elves, Hobbits? Limited scope?- Wilderland with an extensive and detailed landscape? I must be misreading this? Who is this Loremaster?

cheers
