Hi,
I've recently got into the swing of roleplaying. Our group has just finished our first D&D campaign and I wanted to run a stand-alone TOR adventure so I could get a feel for DMing and we could contrast the systems while the normal DM devises his next plan. I was planning to use a pre-generated adventure for simplicity's sake and was leaning towards The Marsh Bell for obvious reasons. It seems fairly straightforward, is self-contained and shows off the different elements of the system.
Is 'The Marsh Bell' recommended as an introduction or are there better options out there for a stand-alone game? I also own the Lake Town stuff (was thinking of swapping Marsh Ogre for the Troll), as well as PDFs of most other stuff except Bree and Oaths of the Riddermark (from a bundle deal?) but haven't read much beyond the core rules yet. We also have a fairly large group (up to 6 others).
I'd welcome any advice or suggestions
Suggested intro adventure?
Re: Suggested intro adventure?
Personally, I'd go with Zedturtle's Theft of the Moon. I think it does a much better job of introducing TOR to players and GMs alike than the Marsh Bell.

There's also the Cup of True Love and my own To Journey's End and the Eagles' Eyrie* which are pretty good too - even if I do say so myself!
* Combines elements of the Marsh Bell at the beginning so could be something you run instead of that mini-adventure. If you're feeling particularly brave!

Re: Suggested intro adventure?
Thanks! I'd heard mention of it but wasn't sure what it was. I'll have a look over it. Any particular reason it's better?
Re: Suggested intro adventure?
For me, it just takes a little more time explaining the rules and covers more of them. I'm not keen on the Marsh Bell though; the setup doesn't make a lot of sense to me and also the interesting bit is the journey to the Eyrie across Mirkwood (which is just the back story for the adventure as written), which is why I used it's elements within my bigger adventure that deals with that quest.
