I shall very much miss the TOR forum.
It's extremely sad. This community will only be diluted on other forums, if it exists at all, and don't get me started on things like Facepalm for trying to do such things.

Will miss chewing things over with everyone here, old timers and new; I've met some people on here that have undoubtedly improved me as a GM and my understanding of Tolkien's work as well as doing it in an enjoyable manner. And then there are those that I count as friends - albeit some that I may never have met yet in person.

My gaming life, and perhaps even life as a whole (because it's the things that give us pleasure that are most important when all is said and done), will be made worse by the absence of this forum.

A very sad day.

I very much agree. I know I haven't been on the forums as much as I used due to a combination of an illness in the family and work -- and I missed it and all of you, and now I'll miss it/you even more! I'm friends with some of you on Facebook but for those who don't use it, if you'd like to stay in touch (and I hope so!) please DM me and I'll give you my email address. You can also find me on Google+ and Twitter (see my signature below for Twitter handle).

Farewell for now!

What with the news that C7 are closing this forum (thanks to the EU and their GDPR rules)...
I have heard nothing of this in the U.S.

Makes sense really, it's not something that would affect you there.

I can only agree with some of the other comments that this news saddens me. While I understand Dom's announcement and the reasons behind the decision, we have a wonderful and supportive community on here, and it's a crying shame that they have to do this.

114 pages of TOR threads to be lost. Very sad. I don't post here often as TOR is completely unsuited to my current group of gamers, but this is a great community and I have enjoyed reading.

This makes me sad as well. One reason I stopped lurking and started posting was because of the positive and supportive atmosphere of these forums. As some have noted earlier, that's a rare gem to find on the internet these days. It'll certainly be missed.

You would think that, but you would be wrong. This has certainly impacted me now! :x

That last is not aimed at you but at the barking bureaucrats!

Well damn...

This totally and completely sucks.

I have not been as active on this forum of late, but when I was running a 2.5 year long TOR campaign, I was here almost everyday.

I would like to thank Rich and all the other fans whose posts and comments provided ideas, inspiration and motivation.

All the best,

>:)

This is tremendously disappointing to me. I have only very rarely posted anything but I have read these forums almost every day for years. Suppose I better post one more time while I can. Good bye to all the wonderful people and discussions I have seen here, and to all the fantastic pictures of minis

The One Ring Google+ communities.
Google+ just isn't as good as a forum for discussion like this. I've tried to use it and it's simply rubbish. Facebook is even worse - just full of numpties "liking" posts. No wonder companies love it so much. That's before you get into the complete lack of ethics regarding peoples' data they show and ownership/responsibility of content. There's RPGnet and other RPG discussion sites, which are better than things like Google+ and Facepalm but with no dedicated subforum so you have to, no offence, trawl through threads for other games and I don't really like the atmosphere at RPGnet if I'm prefectly honest - same goes for RPGsite as well.

After consideration of all this, I think a definite possibility is RPGGeek: https://rpggeek.com/forums/family/4395/one-ring. This already has a dedicated forum for TOT and subforum within it too. It actually at first blush looks pretty good. That's the place I think us TOR fans should go.
