What is an Orc Bannerman?

Post by Heilemann » Sat Apr 26, 2014 10:34 pm

I'm running To Journey's End and Eagles' Eyrie, and I'm not sure what to make of the Orc Bannerman that's listed in Azgrask's force (and yes, I've PM'd RichH, but I'm probably LMing this tomorrow morning, and I haven't heard back yet :? )

I ran him as a guy with a banner (flag) to show the orcs where their leader was and to indicate, by loss of the banner, that he was dead thus making sure that indicator was noticed by the orcs.

Ah, good detail, I'll steal that.

How did you run it with the map, since TOR doesn't really support maps, movement and distances (kinda)?

I showed my players the map and described the area verbally to allow them to visualise the scene. They chose to set up with the dwarf in defensive stance in the gatehouse at the bottom of the hill and had two bowmen stationed at first part way up the hill to fire on the approaching orcs (Opening volley). The elf then retreated up the hill to rearward stance while the hobbit joined the dwarf to hold the gatehouse. The elf concentrated fire on the Leader to bring him down and on any orc attempting to climb the hill, so I didn't need to worry about hordes of orcs attacking/flanking the pair at the gate.

That's about the size of it, yes. I did have stats for him but never got round to writing them up.
