Cavalry versus Infantry
Cavalry versus Infantry
In one of my games, the PCs (plus a couple hundred NPCs) are going to be hit by a Cavalry charge. I'm away from my books presently and don't remember any specifics ... I'm thinking that the riders might get a +2/-2 bonus to their to-hit numbers to represent their greater reach, Are there any official rules or any well regarded house rules?

This rule may be the most useful on page 8 for the Charger:
A character mounted on a 'charger' may declare
a 'Charge' in the first round of any combat where
he has Initiative. The character counts as being
in 'forward stance' and may roll the feat Die
twice, choosing the best result
... But you may get other ideas from it.

Re: Calvary versus Infantry
I found myself in the same situation. I gave the horsemen 1d of combat advantage every turn (to be used on attacks, armour, awe, etc).
Far from perfect, but I was looking for something simple

Re: Cavalry versus Infantry
Hopefully this will be covered in detail in "Horse Lords".
Re: Calvary versus Infantry
Rather than this one I was considering to allow cavalry soldiers to charge and engage the enemy during the last Opening Volley.Rich H wrote:Check out the following: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/795 ... frings.pdf

Re: Calvary versus Infantry
I think there are lots of interesting mechanical options that could come about from mounted engagements. I posted this in another thread which I think is pertinent here also:Woodclaw wrote:Rather than this one I was considering to allow cavalry soldiers to charge and engage the enemy during the last Opening Volley.
Rich H wrote:LMs should be cautious... Any rules that they create for non-specific cultures riding horses and using them in battle (ie: basic riding and engagement rules for all mounted characters) need to allow for specific horse based cultures to be better than the norm. Personally, I would actually apply penalties to someone fighting from a horse that (a) isn't themselves trained and/or (b) isn't using a trained horse. That means that you're protecting the niche of future cultures that are going to come out officially or that fans produce (as in the above link).
