One adventure per year pacing

Post by Skyspire » Tue May 20, 2014 7:12 pm

Just out of curiosity, how many of you stick to the default pacing of one adventure per year? Not sure if this has been discussed before, if so my apologies.

No. Mostly because it doesn't seem necessary to me. I think 2 and possibly 3 adventures per year is fine.
Rignuth: Barding Wordweaver Wanderer in Southron Loremaster's game.
Amroth Ol'Hir: High Elf Vengeful Kin Slayer in Zedturtle's game.
Jakk O'Malli: Dwarven Orator Treasure-Hunter in Hermes Serpent's game.

Agree with Rocmistro on this; I usually run two per year. The 'small' Fellowship Phase between the adventures works well for my group as the review their progress and explore the region they have finished the adventure in. Also, a shorter Fellowship Phase in between the two adventures highlights the difference between that and the end of year one, where characters hear of news from other lands etc.

Only if the scope of the adventure is grand enough to justify it taking up most of a year.

Same here. Unless you have something very long and complex in mind, I think that two adventures per year offer a bit more possibilities.

Depends on how fast you want to advance the time line.

I run anywhere between 1 and 3 adventures per year, with Fellowship phases (just not "Year-End" Fellowship phases) in between as appropriate.

Same here. An adventure per season, and a Fellowship Phase lasts a full season, so they may do as many as 4 adventures a year if they're willing to forgo fellowship phases. But they usually rest during summer and winter, and go on adventures during spring and automn.

There is little reason to skip Fellowship Phases altogether, since one can last as little as two weeks (or even less). A short Fellowship Phase might (depending on the Loremaster) limit what endeavors can be accomplished in that period beyond rest and recuperation.

That's the reason; I don't allow much during short fellowship phases. But they recuperate between adventures.
