The State of The One Ring. Has it Stalled?
The State of The One Ring. Has it Stalled?
I am just starting a new campaign of The One Ring - the first I've run for a couple of years - and I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on how the game line stands.
Are there new books due any time soon? What are they?
How come the release schedule has been so slow? There was the Laketown Sourcebook nearly a year ago but nothing since then. Do we know what the holdup is?
Thanks

Apparently, they are on their way to the roof, but the building is tall: viewtopic.php?p=1322#p1322

As stated by Gareth within a Laundry thread, the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who has pulled resource from other lines so no doubt TOR is one of those impacted.

Re: The State of The One Ring. Has it Stalled?
Development hasn't stalled by any means. It ran into some delays for various reasons (such as the decision to rework Darkening of Mirkwood into two supplements), but there's lot of stuff in the pipeline.
Very soon, we'll be releasing The Heart of the Wild, a guide to Mirkwood and the Vales of Anduin.
Next after that is The Darkening of Mirkwood, a campaign spanning thirty years, covering the return of the Shadow to Dol Guldur and the fate of the Woodmen.
After that, we'll be crossing the Misty Mountains to Rivendell, to cover the Rangers of the North and their allies amid the haunted ruins of the North-Kingdom.
We're not yet committing to any release dates; as we've learned, these are complicated projects that need time to germinate. Soon, though!

Out of curiosity, do you mean that Darkening has been split into Heart and Darkening, or that there are three books on the way?
In any case, I really need a TARDIS...

Darkening of Mirkwood got split into Heart of the Wild and Darkening of Mirkwood. Two books, not three

Those 3 books "Darkening of Mirkwood, Heart of the Wild and the Rivendell book" can it safely be said that they are all expected before years end?

I'd be very surprised if we get all three. Very. I'd say we'll definitely get one, maybe two, but not three.Beran wrote:Those 3 books "Darkening of Mirkwood, Heart of the Wild and the Rivendell book" can it safely be said that they are all expected before years end?

I'm hoping we get two. I'm planning on leveraging excitement of the next film at the end of the year to pump my group up for the campaign.Rich H wrote:I'd be very surprised if we get all three. Very. I have certainly been hoping for all three, since all of them had been listed on the 2013 release schedule. But then I was also expecting the first of them to be released in the first quarter of the year (or so). Now it looks like we'll be lucky to get Heart of the Wild by the end of July or even August.Beran wrote:Those 3 books "Darkening of Mirkwood, Heart of the Wild and the Rivendell book" can it safely be said that they are all expected before years end?
"Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he."
