Some previewed changes!!!!!
Andrew said in his preview thread no2
"We’ve tinkered a little with the various Cultural Blessings, so Beornings ignore weariness in combat so long as they’re wounded, whether they were wounded in the same combat or not, and Bardings now enjoy a bonus to all Valour tests, not just Fear tests.
The biggest change to how characters work is with the Cultural Rewards and Virtues – we’ve tweaked and changed most of them in some way, based on the feedback we’ve had over the years. So, just to pick a couple of examples, we’re now explicit as to what constitutes a servant of the Shadow for Elves with Shadow Bane (and you instead add an extra die to your rolls against such creatures); you don’t have to first be wounded to use your Staunching Song; the Axe of the Azanulbizar can be used against enemies with an Attribute level of 7 or less, so you can hew the really big guys; and, yes, we’ve changed how the King’s Blade works."
Some interesting alterations there.
The Beorning weariness thing makes sense to have it for all times after you are Wounded because it takes a longish time to be unwounded. presumably 'treating' the wound doesn't stop the benefit.
Off the top of my head I can't immediately think what other Valour tests there are that Bardings will make?
Nice to see some clarifications (Elves and Shadow bane) and a mix of general adjustments, my friend Nob will not appreciate the change to his King's Blade but that's life, everyone picks on the little guy. Staunching Song's change will be helpful and probably more used now.

Re: Some previewed changes!!!!!
Wouldn't this be better posted in the actual preview thread? We only need the original thread to discuss content of that thread, surely?

Re: Some previewed changes!!!!!
Originally I thought that the C7 staffers would be putting all their preview material in a single thread as that made sense to me but it seems that people are filling them up with other posts. From a promotional POV I would have stickied those threads and had them read-only so people interested by the C7 media blitz for the refresh could find things easily rather than them dropping off the front page after a few days. There are folks that aren't going to like some changes (people always find something to dislike) and filling the Preview threads with debate over the hints that are being dropped rather dilutes the effect of presenting information.

They're also posting on their website.Hermes Serpent wrote:From a promotional POV I would have stickied those threads and had them read-only so people interested by the C7 media blitz for the refresh could find things easily rather than them dropping off the front page after a few days.

Which is not happening based upon the 1st preview and now this 2nd one.Hermes Serpent wrote:Originally I thought that the C7 staffers would be putting all their preview material in a single thread as that made sense to me but it seems that people are filling them up with other posts. I read a post, think it was from Andrew or Jon, that once all these previews had been posted they were going to collect them up so that it could be referred to in the future.
But you already know that the Preview threads are for discussion - as evidenced in the 1st one and now this one. They aren't read only, they have replies in them, and the C7 guys are going to collect the OPs from all the threads into one at the end.Hermes Serpent wrote:There are folks that aren't going to like some changes (people always find something to dislike) and filling the Preview threads with debate over the hints that are being dropped rather dilutes the effect of presenting information.

Re: Some previewed changes!!!!!
Yusei, they're also posting to all manner of social media but that doesn't make it any more easy to find as much social media is very ephemeral, here today and gone in an hour. Look at the 1st preview here, almost off the front page and that's in about 50 hours. Not ideal for someone who comes to the forum and can't find the threads about the update on the front page of the main forum about the game.

Well, I guess this is why they're also posting to their website. It won't be gone in an hour. This is where I would go if I wanted to find information, not to a forum or to Facebook. I would go there if I wanted to find community feedback.Hermes Serpent wrote:Yusei, they're also posting to all manner of social media but that doesn't make it any more easy to find as much social media is very ephemeral, here today and gone in an hour.

Calm your jets, I can only do so many things at a time.
I haven't had a chance to get onto the forums today properly, what with all this "finishing up Rivendell" business.
Preview threads 1 and 2 now stickied.

Re: Some previewed changes!!!!!
I've put all the previews in one thread on the announcement forum, as I figured most people who go there will just want to read them in one place. But, knowing how chatty you lot are, I thought I'd start a discussion thread for each over on this forum ![Wink ;)](images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
