I'm originally from Alaska, so I don't think he should rule the possibility out.

You don't hand someone a bear, you outrun someone and leave them to/for the bear!
(I'm also in Alaska.) Of course, it would be nice for Non-Beorn Bear Stats, just to make use of a mini of a bear or two...

Surely a bear or two shouldn't be hard to stat up. It'd give my little Alaska jade bears something useful to do around the house. Now if we needed barnyard animals I'd be all set for minis--my kids have endless chickens/horses/pigs/goslings/sheep... "You hear a hissing noise and turn slowly; an angry gander extends his wings and honks at you for getting too near his goslings. What do you do? Roll for Courtesy? Good call, but it doesn't work. You make it out without too much damage, but it will be hard to sit down for a few days."

I agree with everyone: Elf delineated my understanding of what a Scout and what a Guide does in a very good manner; Rich definitely deserves a bear for all the excellent work he's done; and geese are mean.

Give Rich a bear from me too. These are excellent, and will be very useful when the LM is short on sleep and creativity.

Ah, I see what I did there. I was wondering what you were all on about.

Teach me to post with the beginnings of a migraine, won't it.

You want a bear on you?

Tie raw meat on yourself and go jogging in the woods...

Resurrecting this topic to ask: Does anyone uses the Hobbit Tales cards for journey hazards? The rules are in line with the revised core rules. If you've chosen not to, how come?

In fact, most of the time I don't really use nor the Hobbit Tales cards, nor the random table. I normally have one or two hazards prepared that are very specific to the journey the group is doing. If a Hazard is triggered, then I use one of them first. Sometimes I use the tables when preparing the Hazards for the adventure, or if the group travelled somewhere unexpected to me.

See for example The Marsh Bell, or the various adventures in Tales of the Wilderland. All of them come with their share of specific Hazards for every travel, and I like the idea a lot, more than randomizing on the fly and improvising every Hazard. On the other hand, I also like to have this rules to help me come up with some idea when I have none.
