Can't wait for this!
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

JRRT would I am sure have hated the PJ movies for missing the whole point. I enjoy them as what I always thought a D&D movie should be. That way I can keep from apoplexy at all the things that have drastically changed from Tolkien.

I do agree with his decision to move most of the exposition from the Council of Elrond to the beginning and show what happened. Filmed by the book that scene would have been a bunch of people sitting around a table listening to someone talk. As PJ said "It's a board meeting and you can't film board meetings. They are too boring."

I don't like leaving out Bombadil and the Mouth of Sauron.

I have to say nice system for magical treasure, very inventive. Though Gandalf, Thorin and crew got really lucky with the Treasure Rolls in the Troll Hoard. ;)

Indeed.

Perhaps stretching it too much?

I personally wish they were less randomly acquired - eg, needing the right result on a Feat Die when coming across a treasure hoard, followed by requiring varying degrees of success on a set of d6s. I can see me coming up with a set of house-rules to provide more narrative control to the GM and players.

Agreed.

Personally, I'd allow hoards to have more "rolls" per player, depending on their size and other attributes.
Rignuth: Barding Wordweaver Wanderer in Southron Loremaster's game.
Amroth Ol'Hir: High Elf Vengeful Kin Slayer in Zedturtle's game.
Jakk O'Malli: Dwarven Orator Treasure-Hunter in Hermes Serpent's game.
