Bree-landers?

Post by DavetheLost » Tue Jul 22, 2014 9:08 pm

Now that the maps stretch as far west as Bree and since we already have Hobbits from the Shire, what about the Men of Bree and there abouts? Some of them must fell the call to adventure. Not all the Men west of the Misty Mountains are Rangers, Beornings or Woodmen after all.

Logically, I'd presume the culture will appear along with Bree in a supplement so something like the Laketown supplement along with sheets to stick onto the old LM screen in order to update it correctly with the revised rules.

I will wait then. Along with waiting for Ruins of the North, and the "forthcoming Horselords of Rohan" mentioned in Rivendell.

It's just so hard. And then there are the minor cultures like the boatmen of Anduin.

Breelanders are in the Adventurer Companion.

For setting coverage, I hope we get it in big chunks like Rivendell, rather than Laketown. My hope is for:

- Shire for Western Eriador including Bree, Lindon and Ered Luin.
- Rohan for Dunland, Gap of Rohan, Lothlorien and Rohan.
- Gondor for Ithilien and Gondor.

Additional detailed coverage for Minas Tirith and the like could be done with a Laktown sized book.

I'm more interested as to when (and where) Bree is going to be detailed rather than the Breelander Culture.

I'd personally prefer Cultures within the same supplements as the lands they relate to rather than having them collected up into an Adventurers Companion.

I don't know... Laketown's kind of a dead product right now; I can see a Breeland screen and then the Adventure's Companion has the info from Laketown and Breeland so that those who are not obsessive-compulsive can own one product.
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.

This space intentionally blank.

Not really. You can't put most of the Laketown and Breeland information into the Adventurers Companion as its LM information. I still think releasing a Breeland supplement (containing the player culture) along with either a new screen, and/or stickers to put over the old one, is a better option than your proposal as the content of the Laketown supplement is still valid. I certainly wouldn't want to see that content repeated in another supplement with new stuff; that kind of decision would suck and I doubt C7 would do such a thing as it'd be taking the piss out of those that own Laketown. No, they won't do that, no way.

Anyway... What we have at the moment is Bree missing. It was probably pulled from Rivendell due to space constraints and Breelander as a culture was going in the Adventurers Companion probably because it was thought/planned that Bree would be in Rivendell. Now it isn't... well, we'll just have to see what happens but Bree really needs a quick release as it's pretty critical to adventuring in Eriador. Maybe they'll stick it in Ruins of the North as an appendix.
