That's very humbling. Thank you.

Please do. I'd love to see similar things done for areas of Mirkwood and places like the Long Marshes. I think it's a really cool idea.

I finished reading DoM and the crossing of the Misty Mountains, bringing the Lamp of Balthi to Rivendell, pursued by the Nazgul, is a place screaming for this rules. No doubt, your mountain combat goes there.

When I read the thread's title I was pretty skeptic, but now I have to said that this is an impressive idea.
Not about the High Pass per se (one of the easiest points to cross the mountains), but for any climatic terrain once the Hunt is underway (as you explained). Mirkwood, the northern wastelands, etc...

I'm thinking about a collective travel roll (as in the ambush rules, were you distribute successes among the companions) instead of individual "attacks" to the mountain, but the idea is truly great.

Edit: the rules for "collective rolls" I was referring are at page 168 (revised edition).
My idea was having a "basic damage" based on the Guide's travel skill, and bonus damage based on the guide's heart.

We are crossing the High Pass, and we are "suffering" the effects of this adversary. It is very evocative! I really like it!

Popping in to say I've been avoiding reading this thread, but I'm looking forward to coming back to it after we're across the pass to see what you've all been discussing!
