GenCon 2014 pickup?
Will the Revised edition of the core rules and the Rivendell sourcebook be available for pickup at GenCon 2014 if you preordered both?
If so, do I need to bring anything special to validate I preordered the items?

We'll have some official answers to your questions next week. Stay tuned. And see you there.
In the mean time to answer one easy to answer question - Rivendell will not be at GenCon since it has so recently gone to print.

I will be at Gen Con this year and it would be awesome and a nice surprise if the One Ring revision pre-order books would be there. Look forward to meeting the Cubicle 7 crew! See you guys there!

Please forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't think we ever got this update.

I'm pretty sure is the update that Jon was talking about... a limited number of books at GenCon; but shipping to your house around the same time, so no actual pickups of preordered product.

I know this is an old hobbyhorse of mine, but will the adventures from GenCon 2014 be available in the future to us poor souls who live on the other side of the world??

Re: GenCon 2014 pickup?
@Robin Smallburrow, I'm pretty sure that, like all the other demo adventures that C7 have used, the ones for Gencon 2014 will not be available. The M-e E stranglehold on what is and what is not published/out there for this product is legendary.
What you may find is someone who has run one of those sessions can be persuaded to offer a copy but it's likely to be under the table and not a word en-clair to avoid anyone finding out.

Agree with what Hermes has said, above. Although I hope that we will see such a compilation of such adventures I don't expect that we will. Such a shame really because I find adventure supplements really useful - I very rarely use them without alteration, and often don't run them at all, but I find them invaluable for mining for ideas and inspiring me to develop my own.

Re: GenCon 2014 pickup?
Hi Robin! I got permission and authority today to answer your question. Yes, the GenCon 2014 adventure will be available in the future because it will be published in Ruins of the North! It is an adventure that I wrote (with Francesco adding his magical touch) called Nightmares of Angmar. It will be the first one in the book leading the company from Wilderland to Eriador and possibly even to Rivendell itself!Robin Smallburrow wrote:I know this is an old hobbyhorse of mine, but will the adventures from GenCon 2014 be available in the future to us poor souls who live on the other side of the world??

So, there you have it; poor souls like you now have an answer meant to raise your hope!
By the way, I ran the scenario at GenCon this morning and everyone at the table had a great time, including me. The players were creative and did things unexpected. I did a speed-up version and they almost got through the entire adventure in 3 hours, but not quite. I think they could have finished in 4.5-5 hours with a solid Fellowship phase. The characters definitely would not have survived if I hadn't beefed them up first with 22 Experience points and 42 Advancement points each. This helped tremendously against some foreboding adversaries. I also let them keep their full compliment of starting Hope since it was a convention game and made them roll a Success die to determine their Shadow points.
